The Volkswagen Eos is a sporty compact car produced by the German manufacturer Volkswagen. It has a retractable hardtop coupe convertible body style and was introduced as the successor of the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet. The name is derived from Eos, the Greek goddess of the dawn. The Eos incorporates a sliding glass sunroof into its five piece convertible making the Eos the only retractable hardtop of this kind. The roof folds automatically into the trunk in 25 seconds. Eos excels when it comes to a convertible which focuses on occupant comfort and amenities. Popular competitors are the FIAT 500L, Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen Rabbit and smart EQ ForTwo. The Eos convertible can be considered the successor to the Volkswagen Cabrio, in that it's a Jetta-based four-seater equipped with a folding metal hard top. Volkswagen discontinued the Eos in 2015 at which time the average MSRP was $36,660.
